Hi I am Niki. I am a Self Taught Pet Portrait Artist. I draw from the photographs you send me.
I only discovered that I had a talent for drawing animals in 2015. Although my earlier attempts when I look at them now, leave much to be desired. However I enjoyed drawing so I persevered to get where I am today., I am still far from perfect, but then who is perfect.

I only discovered that I had a talent for drawing animals in 2015. Although my earlier attempts when I look at them now, leave much to be desired. However I enjoyed drawing so I persevered to get where I am today., I am still far from perfect, but then who is perfect.
I enjoy drawing and it is my happy place I go too. I suffer with my Mental Health sometimes and my drawing is my therapy.
I also love animals especially dogs and originally due to my Landlord’s restrictions, I was unable to have one, and I got my pleasure my drawing other people’s! Putting a smile on their face and sometimes a happy tear in their eye if they no longer sadly have their pet. However due to an unfortunate circumstances the one good that came out of it, is that I was able to get a puppy. On the 2nd March 2024 we brought home Sabine, our black Labrador. She has brought so much joy to our lives and she is my lifeline. Our lives have changed quite drastically since October 2023 when my husband had a major stroke. As a result he is no longer to speak or use his right hand and life can be very difficult for us both. So my dog and my drawing are my time which is beneficial to my health and subsequently benefits both of us.
We live in Tavistock, Devon, a five minute walk to Dartmoor. It is a stunningly beautiful part of the country.
I am originally from Romford. This has the postal address of Essex, however since the changes in the early 70s, it became part of East London. Either way Essex or London it has always held my heart. I moved to South West in 1986, however it took until 2019 when I moved to Tavistock for it to feel like home and to stop missing my beloved London quite so much.

To start your portrait I require photographs of the pet you wish me to draw and a 25% non refundable deposit. The better quality photographs you provide, the more details I am able to capture. I like to know the name and character of the pet so I can connect as the subjects become more than just a subject to me.
On completion I mount the portrait ready for you to frame on receipt. Before posting, I require the balance to be paid in full.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with me for a no obligation chat.
This beautiful girl was and is my inspiration. My gorgeous Labrador x Holly who sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2017. Gone but never forgotten.
